Fence Boards

The fence boards typically measure 1x8x5 foot tall or 1x8x6 foot tall fence boards (acctual measurments 13/16 x 8 x 60 or 72). We recommend using heart redwood fence boards, as shown in the top photos. Depending on your final fence finish, going with a con common redwood fence board may work for your application.

It is important to know what kind of boards should be installed (common or heart). Pay close attention to the white knotty sap wood boards, once installed and hosed down, they look ok. But, those boards rot faster.

The deference is not much (cost wise), in your search, just compare the photos and the quality is obvious.

Fence Posts

The fence posts are typically 4 x 4 pressure treated posts set in gravel and concrete every 8 feet,  1/3rd  deep on most posts.

Depending on the post dimension, the post footing can increase or decrease.

On gate installations, the additional weight of the gate door/s we would increase the post dimension.

Fence Posts that we use are:

4 x 4 x 8 foot long

4 x 4 x 10 foot long

4 x 6 x 8 foot long

4 x 6 x 10 foot long

6 x 6 x 8 foot long Redwood Common

6 x 6 x 8foot Long Cedar Clear

In this photo, we have a 6 x 6 clear cedar post, set within a concrete form tube. We use a combination of 3/8 pea gravel and concrete.
